Tuesday started out as any other day. I ate a peach from Valera (a really good, juicy one) and typed a bit on my computer. around 8 am our team walked to breakfast of sausage, cheese and bread and fresh fruit prepared by the ladies of the church. Today was Sveta's birthday (not my interpreter) and as is the custom here, she was doing all the preparations. After breakfast we started off on a trip to the baby home. The home was a group of nicely maintained buildings on the far part of the city. The workers are a joyous bunch of ladies, that truly care for these children.

Two years ago David and I went to visit a gentleman and his wife in Pavlosk, Russia. The church we were visiting had arranged numerous visitations to share the gospel with people that the pastor had been building relationships. This gentleman is very intellegent albeit some what opinionated (who isn't), and engaged in conversation eagerly, wanting to know why we were there, what we thought about this and that. Over time we began to share the gospel of Christ.
On our way back to Pavlosk

He has stretched me and gotten me to go and do such things as I never would have done on my own. God has also put in my heart a longing love for the Russian people, you know, the ones we “hated” as we grew up. Who would have guessed that I, a “content to stay at home” type of person, would one day want to travel to Russia to encourage my brothers and sisters in the Lord (both there and here). It’s an adventure that I love to share! Want to join me??

I was saved when I was about 6, while we were living at the camp. In 1957 we moved to Houston, Texas, where I spent the school years. Then each summer we went back to Michigan to spend the summers at camp. Pretty cool, huh? It was at camp that I learned many Bible stories and memorized much scripture with my grandfather’s coaxing, all before I was 12. To this day many of those memorized verses are still retrievable.
