Yesterday, two of our employees were on the way to work and lost control
on the dirt road. The truck skidded and flipped into a tree crushing the
cab.
The driver was pinned in the truck by the cab roof and had to be cut out
by the jaws of life. He was taken via ambulance to Huntsville Memorial
Hospital and thankfully his only injuries were cuts, bruises and a hurt
arm. He was released to go home.
The passenger was unconscious and bleeding. A neighbor stopped and
called 911 then he called us at camp. Another neighbor stopped to help.
The passenger regained consciousness and crawled out the busted window
of the truck as it lay upside down against the tree. As she lay bleeding
on the ground she was in and out of consciousness and incoherent. The
EMS arrived and she was put on a back board with brain injures and
possible neck injuries. The EMS determined her injuries were so severe
that Lifeflight was called to pick her up at the Huntsville Airport
helicopter pad. The EMS had her stabilized so that she could survive the
flight to the medical center. Her condition did not improve while she
was flown to the medical center in Houston.
We held a prayer meeting as soon as we were called about the wreck and
contacted several people with the call for prayer.
The neighbor called to make sure the injured young girl had survived to
make it to the medical center. He had seen her injuries and knew how
severe they were. All we knew at that time was that they were able to
stabilize her and she was still in flight to the medical center.
Our retreat director and his wife, her immediate supervisors drove down
to the medical center in Houston to check on her condition and to give
support to her family.
To their amazement, they were told that she had been released and
already left to go home with her parents.
Apparently, while the doctors were working on her in the emergency room,
she opened her eyes and, praise the Lord, she was healed. They could
find no brain injuries and no neck injures! They could find nothing
wrong with her. They actually let her go home with her parents and
didn't need to keep her overnight for observation.
Speechless, amazed and thankful, God in his graciousness healed her!
God is amazing!
